Ann Marie received a Bachelor of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Auburn University and a Master in Education in Communication Disorders from Georgia State University. Ann Marie was awarded the Certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and is certified to provide private speech and language services in both North and South Carolina. She has worked in a variety of clinical and administrative settings, having served as Director of Clinical Operations for the first seven years of Tega Cay Speaks existence. Says Ann Marie: " My first work experience was at Shadow Rock Center, a psych-educational center for children with severe emotional behavior disorders and/or autism. I've also been a member of the AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) Team for DeKalb County School Systems in Atlanta, Georgia. This is where I helped nonverbal children communicate via an electronic or board communication device. I've also worked several years in the Fulton County School System in Atlanta, Georgia. I was an itinerant speech-language pathologist that worked with elementary, middle and high school students on more typical speech and language disorders. Through my educational experience with Auburn University and Georgia State, I've also worked in private clinic settings, outpatient rehabilitation facilities and nursing homes. Recently (April 2006), I received specialized clinical training in the Lidcombe Program of Early Stuttering Intervention from members of the Montreal Fluency Centre. My private practice will be one of only a few places in the United States where you can receive the Lidcombe Program. I am currently in charge of the k-2nd Grade Children's Ministry at Eternal Fellowship Church. Eternal is a Presbyterian Church that meets every Sunday at 10:30 in the gym at the YMCA in Baxter. I would love for you to come! I really enjoy working with children and adults on their speech and language skills. I am a strong advocate of early intervention and total communication. "
