Anissa graduated from Caldwell Community College in 1991 and immediately started her career working in home health care, where her interest in the pediatric population began. Anissa has over 16 years experience, 12 of which are within the North Carolina school system. Anissa was the first full time therapist employed by Shelby City Schools and was privileged to experience and contribute to the program's growth, serving students of all ages, disabilities and backgrounds. Over the many years of working with children and families who have been touched by the experiences of the special needs population, she has encountered a wide range of disabilities, conditions and diagnoses affecting the pediatric population. Anissa's experience includes working with Autism, Sensory Processing disorders/PDD, Down syndrome, Developmentally Delayed/Learning disabilities, Traumatic Brain Injury, Cerebral Palsy and more. She has attended workshops and continuing education opportunities to enhance her knowledge and improve her ability to work with the pediatric population. Anissa began working with Tega Cay Speaks in the summer of 2009 and has enjoyed all the many opportunities it brings to serve the special needs population and their families.
